Red Hot Reunion

On Saturday night, June 2nd, ‘80s country punk pioneers Jason & the Scorchers held a reunion concert in Nashville to benefit drummer Perry Baggs, who suffers from diabetes and will require a kidney transplant. Although emotions ran high over the weekend’s activities, with friends like Dan Baird of the Georgia Satellites, Ken McMahan of the Dusters, Bruce Hilton of the Digbees and former Scorchers Andy York and Ken Fox showing up to support Baggs, the entire audience pitches in on “Broken Whiskey Glass” as guest performers. One of the Scorchers’ oldest and most popular songs, “Broken Whiskey Glass” is a perfect slice of Americana pie: starting off slow and somber, kicking into raucous high gear, and then leaving the audience breathless by the end. That’s a gleeful Perry Baggs kicking the crap out of his kit in the background. The only thing that’s missing from the performance is something for Jason to climb up on….
